Indeed, alumna Nicole C. Moon came back to Middlesex University in Nov 2021 to deliver a learning event titled 'How to self-publish' for current BA students and MA students. You can see a recording of the event below:
Furthermore, Kadisha Kaur-singh, one of our BA English students, recently published an article about hair styles and cultural appropriation in GUAP magazine, as well as an app with ERIC to provide advice and opportunities for young creatives.

As a part of our StoryFest 2024 event, published authors Jonathan Payne and J.McDonald, alumni of our MA Novel Writing programme, discussed publishing, writing and diversity.

We're thrilled to announce that J.McDonald, a recent alumna of our MA Novel Writing programme, sees her novel The Pale: Diary of the dead launch in March 2024.
We're happy to announce that Victoria Brooks, a recent alumna of our MA Novel Writing programme sees her novel Silicone God launch in December 2023, via the publisher MOIST books.
We are delighted to say Frances Talbot, a recent alumna of our MA Novel Writing, has successfully published the historical novel she began with us: An Inessential Liaison.
Similarly, alumnus (and CREW HQ community member) Jonathan Payne is having his debut novel published with CamCat books in 2023. Citizen Orlov is a spoof spy thriller set in an unnamed central European country in which an unassuming fishmonger answers a phone call meant for a secret agent and becomes embroiled in a coup against the head of state.
'Also, alumna Eithne Gallagher was shortlisted for the Aesthetica Creative Writing Award, seeing her short story published in their anthology, and had the endearing 'The Cloud-Swing' children's story published online by Gallucci Editore. Also, alumna Elyn Joy recently published her story 'The Demon in the Mirror' in The Book of Demons. And alumni J.McDonald, Laura Jane Keating and JF Mulvey were each published with stories in The Book of the Dead.
Publishing and our PhD programme
Our PhD in English and Creative Writing researchers regularly publish academic articles and creative work, even while they are studying, researching and writing novels at Middlesex. For example, PhD researcher Amie A. Brochu recently had the academic article 'Steward of trees and forests: Treebeard’s symbolic role in folklore, environmental protection and eco-critical awareness' published in Not the Fellowship. Dragons Welcome!. And Gabriel Wisdom had the 'cli-fi' ('climate fiction') short story 'Ancient Memories, About a Virus' published in the important collection The Last Horizon. Also, included in that collection were PhD researchers Joe Smith, with 'Sacred Grove', and Boe Huntress, with 'Seaweed City'.
And one of the latest publications we'd like to mention is the novel Lagos to London by Middlesex University student Lola Ekugo.
